Chemical Constituents  : a-pinene, B-pinene, myrcene, limonene, a-bergaptene, B-bisabolene, linalool, linalyl acetate, nerol, neryl acetate, geraniol, geraniol acetate, a-terpineol

Medicinal Uses**  The chemical components of bergamot stimulate hormone secretion and  help maintaining proper rates of metabolism. This stimulating effect increases secretion of digestive juices, bile and insulin, thereby aiding digestion, proper absorption of nutrients, assimilation and decomposition of sugar and the resultant lowering of blood sugar level.  Helps relieve colic, flatulence, and indigestion.  May restore stomach and liver and awaken the appetite by having a stimulating effect on the liver, stomach and spleen.  Gastric stagnation due to weakness and deficiency is mobilized as well as any heaviness and distension is relieved.  It also synchronizes or regulates the peristaltic motion of the intestines and this way too, help in digestion.

Antiseptic for the urinary tract, infections and inflammation such as cystits.  Can be used as an inhalation for respiratory tract infections such as tonsillitis, bronchitis, tuberculosis.  When combined with tea tree, it can treat cold sores, chicken pox, and shingles.  As a douche or hip bath, is proven successful in gonococcal infections, leucorrhoea, vaginal pruritis

Treatment for wounds, herpes, abscesses, boils, cold sores, cystitis, halitosis, soothes insect bites, benefits digestive system, deodorizer.

Stimulates secretion of certain hormones which lessen sensitivity of nerves to pain. Very helpful in case of headache, sprains etc.

Skin Care  Skin conditions associated with an oily complexion.  Also acne, oily skin, psoriasis, itching.  Cicatrisant is a property or an agent which helps the scar and other marks on the skin to disappear. It also makes the distribution of pigments and melanin even and uniform, resulting in the fading away of marks.

Safety Information  Do not use if the area of application will be exposed to sunlight within 24 hours due to its phototoxicity.  Bergaptene, one of its components, becomes poisonous if exposed to sunlight.  It should be stored in dark bottles in dark places.
